Weather service confirms Tyler tornado was EF4GRAND FORKS – The tornado that severely damaged two farmsteads in Richland County, N.D., and Wilkin County, Minn., has been confirmed an EF4 tornado, the National Weather Service said today.
The estimated peak winds were 170 mph to 175 mph. It had a total pathway of five miles with a maximum width of 600 yards.
The National Weather Service sent a meteorologist from Sioux Falls to offer a second opinion today.
The tornado touched down about 6:25 p.m. Saturday and was on the ground for more than 20 minutes.
