Driver injured after hitting squad car

OSAKIS, Minn. – A 50-year-old woman received minor injuries here Friday after driving her 1996 Pontiac Sunfire into a parked and unoccupied Osakis police squad car.

Debra Lang of Osakis was traveling east on U.S. Highway 27 when she hit the squad at 4:31 p.m., causing her vehicle to roll.

She was extricated by the Osakis Fire Department and taken by ambulance to Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

It’s unclear what caused Lang to hit the squad or why the squad was parked and unoccupied, according to a Minnesota State Patrol incident report. Road conditions were dry and there were no hazardous materials present.
