Weekend Watch: ‘The Taming of the Shrew’Friday through Tuesday
While most summer-stock productions have wound down for the year, Undiscovered Country Productions is just heating up. Every year, the outfit offers a little Shakespeare in the park, and this time the troupe tackles the battle of the sexes with “The Taming of the Shrew.” Conor Shenk plays the gentleman Petruchio, who tries to win the hand of the headstrong Katherina, played by Shenk’s real-life wife, Stacey Dohn Shenk. Appropriately enough, the verbal back-and-forth takes place at the Jerry Scherling Tennis Court Complex in Island Park. The story unfolds nightly at 6 p.m. Friday through Tuesday. There is no cover, but bring a blanket or a cushion, as the concrete seats can be unforgiving.
