Two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion
Stewart returns to the Red River Valley Speedway for the second time this summer. Stewart made his RRVS debut on June 23 and finished in third place in the Late Models feature race. This time, he will be driving a sprint car.
“I really enjoyed racing in Fargo,” Stewart said. “The people were tremendous and everyone at the race track did a great job. I love racing sprint cars and after competing with the All Stars, World of Outlaws and at Eldora Speedway last week, I really wanted to have another chance to get on the track. My schedule is pretty tight and this was one that we could actually do, so I jumped at the chance.”
Four-time defending World of Outlaws sprints points champion
Schatz is fourth in points on the WoO circuit this season. His father, Danny Schatz, took over track operations at the RRVS in the offseason and converted the track to a three-eighths mile oval. Donny Schatz races for Stewart on the WoO circuit.
“You better have your shoes laced up tight because Tony knows what he’s doing in any type of car he gets in,” Donny Schatz said. “Right now he’s got things going on in a sprint car.”
Defending All Star Circuit of Champions sprints points champion
Shaffer, a former World of Outlaws rookie of the year from the Pittsburgh area, is the current points leader on the All Star Circuit. Shaffer has six consecutive Top 3 finishes with the All Stars. He leads the series with six wins this season.
“I’m excited to get back to Fargo,” Shaffer said. “We used to really enjoy our time racing there, and it sounds like the Schatz family has really put a lot of work into the track.”
