Moorhead woman uses fan to block burglar

Moorhead police say a woman used a window fan to block a suspected burglar from entering her apartment early Wednesday.

Officers responded to the burglary report at 2:57 a.m. at 518 32nd Ave. S.

According to a news release from Lt. Jim Nielsen, the resident heard someone trying to enter her living room through an open garden-level window.

The male suspect forced his head through a window screen, but the resident was able to prevent his body from coming through the window by holding a window fan that had been in the window.

The suspect left the area on foot and was apprehended by police about a block away.

Brandon Lee Poitra, 23, of Moorhead, was arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail pending charges by the Clay County Attorney’s Office.
