Eighth Best Buy defendant schedules guilty pleaAn eighth man accused in a series of alleged thefts of electronics at Best Buy in Fargo has set a court date to plead guilty.
Jeffery Ingersol has set a change of plea hearing in Cass County District Court on Aug. 9. He previously entered a not guilty plea.
Ingersol is one of 12 men who face felony theft charges in connection with a theft ring police say is responsible for swiping $150,000 in goods from the Best Buy in Fargo, allegedly assisted by two security guards who worked at the store.
Many of those charged in the case have links to local collegiate athletics. Ingersol, for example, was on the Valley City (N.D.) State University basketball team for a portion of the 2006-07 season.
Ingersol is one of seven defendants who are scheduled to enter guilty pleas. A former North Dakota State University football player, Gregory Reid Jr., pleaded guilty last on June 1.
Two others have set dates for trials, and two more haven’t set a date yet for a plea hearing or a trial.
