Traffic blitzes planned at 45th Street construction zone in FargoFARGO – The Fargo Police Department will conduct three traffic blitzes this week on 45th Street South on the bridge over Interstate 94.
Blitzes will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
Police are increasing enforcement efforts in this area due to new developments in the construction area on 45th Street South, according to a release from the city. The east bridge over I-94 has been completed, and traffic has been diverted to that bridge while the west bridge is dismantled and reconstructed. Two southbound lanes are open on the east bridge, with one northbound lane open. The speed limit remains at 25 mph because workers are still present.
The traffic safety blitz is designed to reduce speeds in the construction area to help protect workers. The minimum fine for speeding in a construction zone with workers present is $80.
The enforcement effort will focus on speeding and seat-belt violations. Traffic light violations will also be heavily enforced on 45th Street South at 19th Avenue South.
