Weekend Watch: Modern Man and ‘Trashed’
While Broadway will be teeming with arts and crafts this weekend, just a few blocks to the west some area artists are getting gallery recognition. Noel Anderson, known to rock radio listeners as “Scotch,” and Matt Mastrud of the Punchgut studio pair up for a joint show at DK Custom Framing at Gallery 14, 14 Roberts St., Fargo. “Trashed” features the illustrated works of each, like Mastrud’s concert posters and the comic-oriented drawings of Anderson. Both artists rise above the perceived limitations of their genres. Anderson isn’t the only artist to riff off Andy Warhol. Modern Man has paid homage to him, and now the Plains Art Museum, 704 1st Ave., N., is paying respect to the Fargo artist with “Meet the Supreme Genius: A Toast to Modern Man.” The nod to Mod, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., promises lots of stories from and about the talented and colorful artist.
