3 North Dakota metros register lowest jobless ratesThree North Dakota metro areas led the nation in May for the lowest unemployment rates, according to figures released Wednesday from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Bismarck metro registered the lowest unemployment rate with 3.1 percent, followed by Fargo with 3.5 percent and Grand Forks at 3.8 percent.
The Minneapolis-St. Paul area had a jobless rate of 6.4 percent in May.
El Centro, Calif., and Yuma, Ariz., recorded the highest unemployment rates, with 27.5 percent and 27.2 percent, respectively.
Overall, 149 areas recorded jobless rates higher than the 9.3 percent national average, while 218 areas reported lower rates. Five areas had equal rates to the nation.
