Moorhead police pull car from Red River

Moorhead police pulled a car from the Red River Thursday afternoon after a private diver discovered the vehicle.

The diver called police about 1:30 p.m. after finding the car submerged near the walking bridge near Fargo’s Oak Grove Park.

Police believe the red 2000 Pontiac Grand Am was in the river for up to five years, said Sgt. Mike Detloff.

The vehicle’s Minnesota plates expired in 2004, and police are investigating whether the car was stolen, Detloff said.
