Berg accepts position in Clay County

Brian Berg has accepted the job of Clay County administrator contingent on the Clay County Commission approving his salary.

Berg, who is currently administrator for Becker County, Minn., said Wednesday he has given his 30-day notice there, and contingent on the Clay County board’s acceptance of a salary, he hopes to start his new job Aug. 1.

He said his last day in Becker County could be July 23.

Clay County Administrator Vijay Sethi, who plans to retire at the end of the year, said pending commission approval, Berg’s initial salary would be $110,612, which could be adjusted after the first six months.

The Clay County Commission is not expected to decide on the salary issue until July 6.

Sethi and Berg will work together for several months, with Sethi aiding in Berg’s transition into the position.

He was selected from a field of five finalists.
