Gay magazine goes undercover to out Minnesota pastorMINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minneapolis-based gay magazine has outed a Lutheran pastor who's been critical of church leadership for allowing gay people in committed relationships to become Lutheran clergy.
The Rev. Tom Brock is senior pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. That church left the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American last year as it moved to liberalize its policy over gay clergy, which Brock says violates scripture.
Lavender Magazine reported last week that Brock has attended a Catholic support group for gay men struggling with chastity. The magazine's president says its reporter joined the group without revealing he was a journalist.
Brock is on leave from Hope Lutheran. Another pastor there calls the magazine's actions "unconscionable."
