Fargo man dies in Minneapolis crash

MINNEAPOLIS – A Fargo man died Friday in a motorcycle crash in Minneapolis while being pursued by a state trooper.

Kenneth M. Kahle, 23, died in the crash. He was riding a 1996 Kawasaki ZX900.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the accident happened around 4:28 p.m. Friday near Washington Avenue North and 22nd Avenue North.

The State Patrol said the trooper had attempted to initiate a traffic stop after observing moving violations and that the motorcycle was not displaying a license plate. When the trooper activated his lights, the motorcyclist looked back, saw the trooper, and accelerated rapidly, according to the State Patrol.

The motorcyclist went through a red light at Broadway and Washington, the patrol said, and then collided with a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup. The trooper was clearing that intersection when he witnessed the crash about three blocks in front of him.

Jesse Keenan, 39, Minneapolis, the driver of the pickup, received minor injuries.
