Cass County plans to spray for mosquitoesCass County Vector Control will conduct ground spraying for mosquitoes in several locations today and Sunday, weather permitting.
Spraying is planned today in the Brooktree Park subdivision and cities of Mapleton and Leonard and on Sunday in the cities of Kindred and North River and Stanley Township subdivisions.
All spraying will take place between 8:30 and 11 p.m.
Spraying in Mapleton was supposed to happen Thursday but was rescheduled because of forecasted high winds.
The active ingredient in the spray is permethrin, which is nontoxic to humans and pets, according to Cass County Vector Control.
Still, Vector Control crews will stop sprayers if people are in the vicinity or downwind of the application, and residents are asked to move indoors so the areas can be treated in a timely manner.
