Fargo residents reminded to lock their bicyclesFARGO - Because of a rash of bicycle thefts in Fargo, police are reminding residents to lock their bicycles.
The Police Department has responded to 43 reports of stolen bicycles since May 1, according to a news release. Most bicycle thefts are a crime of opportunity, so residents should invest in a quality bicycle lock and use it, police officials say.
Bicycle licenses are available at the Fargo Police Department’s main desk from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost is $2. The bicycle’s make, size and serial number are recorded. Many stolen bicycles are found abandoned and a license makes getting the bike back to its owner easier.
