Report shows ND students benefit from college tuition discountsFARGO (AP) — North Dakota university system officials say a report shows that tuition discounts benefit North Dakota residents more than other students.
The report shows that about 52 percent of tuition breaks went to North Dakota residents, 24 percent to nonresidents in the United States and 24 percent to international students.
University system vice chancellor Laura Glatt says the study arose from questions by some lawmakers who have asked if the state is getting a good return on its investment.
Board member Michael Haugen of Fargo says some people believe North Dakota is subsidizing students from other countries, when the opposite is true.
