Woman killed after house collapses in Montana stormBILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Roosevelt County officials say a woman was killed and her husband injured when their house near Froid collapsed during a severe storm that passed through northeastern Montana.
Tanja Fransen with the National Weather Service says a 90-mile-an-hour microburst of wind blew apart the couple's modular house at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The husband was trapped in the rubble while his wife was hurtled about 250 feet through the air before she landed in the yard.
Sheriff Freedom Crawford identified the victim as Romona Ryder and said she died after being transported to a hospital in nearby Culbertson. Her husband, Pat Ryder, is recuperating in a North Dakota hospital after suffering a broken arm and broken collar bone.
