Storms spawn two tornadoes in SD; 2 injured

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Strong storms in the Dakotas prompted reports of tornadoes, flash flood warnings and hurt two men in a small central South Dakota town.

The National Weather Service said two tornadoes were reported near Dupree. Ziebach County Sheriff Robert Menzel says either tornadoes or high winds blew off roofs and downed electrical lines, causing power outages in the town of 460 people.

Menzel says a man was sitting inside in a car when a mobile home was blown on top of the vehicle. He was taken to a Bismarck, N.D., hospital. The sheriff says another man who was hit by flying debris also was taken away in an ambulance. He did not identify either man.

Areas of North Dakota also saw strong winds and heavy rain overnight. In eastern South Dakota, NorthWestern Energy reported power outages in several towns, affecting about 300 people.
