Portraits: Lindsey Rockwell

As kids, parents and grandparents walk into the children’s area for the Saturday morning storytime at the Fargo Barnes & Noble, they are welcomed by a familiar smile, Lindsey Rockwell’s smile. “(Storytime) is the best part of my week,” says Rockwell, who has been doing storytime on a weekly basis for over five years. After the stories are read and snacks are eaten, craft time begins. The children gravitate to Rockwell, showing her everything from their finished craft to the color crayon they happen to be holding. “The kids are really fun to be around. I love the random things they say,” says Rockwell, who has seen many kids grow as readers over the years. She says her mother has told her many times that she should be a teacher. Rockwell is currently pursuing a veterinary technology degree at the Minnesota School of Business and plans to finish in one year. She has been an animal lover for many years and would like to work rescuing animals or helping them in some way. Rockwell will be doing a Father’s Day-themed storytime at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble.
