Man dies after shot by St. Louis County deputyVIRGINIA, Minn. – A Minnesota State Patrol trooper has shot and killed an armed suspect after a gunfire exchange with him on northern Minnesota’s Iron Range.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s says the trooper was assisting deputies late Saturday who responded to a call that a male suspect was firing rounds into an occupied residence in a township near Virginia. No one was injured, but when the trooper approached the suspect he allegedly produced a large weapon and the two exchanged fire.
The sheriff’s office says the suspect was wounded at the scene and picked up by an ambulance, but later died. The name of the suspect and the trooper involved have not yet been released.
