Fargo police issue 139 seat-belt tickets during blitzFARGO – The Fargo Police Department issued 482 citations, including 139 for seat-belt violations, during the Click It or Ticket campaign May 24 through June 6, according to a news release.
In North Dakota, it is the law that everyone in the front seat is required to wear a seat belt. If a driver and their passengers are under the age of 18, they can be stopped and cited for not wearing their seat belts. If the driver is 18 or over, they can be cited for not wearing a seat belt if they are stopped for another violation.
Fargo police conducted six traffic safety blitzes, primarily using speed violations as the reason for the traffic stop. Extra funding from the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration was used to conduct overtime enforcement with the campaign.
