Nearly $2,000 in fines for exceeding fish limitTwo area men were fined nearly $2,000 for catching too many crappies in an ice-fishing trip on the Lake of the Woods in Ontario in March, the Canadian province’s Ministry of Natural Resources said in a news release Wednesday.
Bruce Nereson of Fargo and Ronald Tobkin of Perham, Minn., were fined a total of $1,950 for keeping 38 black crappies, 13 more than the 25 fish their licenses allowed, according to the news release.
The excess crappies were found by inspectors as the fishermen were on their way back to the U.S., the news release stated.
The case was heard May 4 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora.
