ND Democratic candidate for tax commissioner wants property tax studyBISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota's Democratic candidate for tax commissioner wants to form a task force to study the state's property tax system.
Cynthia Kaldor says she's heard about property taxes more than anything else. She says North Dakotans are complaining about their tax bills, rising property assessments and big tax differences between similar types of property.
She says the task force would hold meetings across the state. Kaldor says it would consider all points of view, including the opinions of North Dakotans who support an initiative to ban property taxes.
Kaldor is running against incumbent Republican Cory Fong.
She says the task force could work quickly enough to have the Legislature consider some of its proposals next year.
