Police seek witnesses to Fargo hit-and-run

The Fargo Police Department is looking for witnesses in a vehicle-pedestrian accident that took place at 10 p.m. on May 8 near the Urban Plains Center.

A Fargo police volunteer was directing traffic at the final Fargo Force hockey game when he was struck by a vehicle, according to a news release. The vehicle was southbound from the UP Center when it accelerated and nearly struck a separate volunteer directing traffic. After narrowly missing the first volunteer, the vehicle struck a second volunteer who was directing traffic.

The vehicle left the scene without stopping. The Fargo police volunteer was taken to MeritCare in Fargo with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a large, light-colored or white SUV with North Dakota license plates.

If witnesses or residents have information about the vehicle, contact Officer David Boe at (701) 298-6907, extension 7031.
