Forum editorial: What, no rain, cold on opener? It’s hard to believe, but it looks like northwest Minnesota (at least) will enjoy good weather for the state’s fishing opener. Dedicated anglers take to the state’s waters at midnight tonight for what is one of the traditional rituals of spring in the Gopher State.
If the weather gurus have it right (no guarantees) Saturday morning will dawn clear and bright; the day will evolve into a sunny, warm, rain-free session on the lakes. As serious anglers know from experience, opening day weather is foul more often than not. Rain, wind and even spitting snowflakes are never out of the picture.
Not this year in most of lakes country. So no excuses for an empty live well this day. Enjoy the weather, the camaraderie and the special experience of one of Minnesota’s treasured traditions.
