Vacant ND judgeship in Southeast Judicial District being reviewedBISMARCK (AP) — The North Dakota Supreme Court will be deciding whether a vacant judgeship in the Southeast Judicial District should remain there or be transferred to another district.
The vacancy was created by the May 3 death of Judge James Bekken of New Rockford, who was getting lung disease treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
The review of the bench seat is required under state law. Supreme Court justices are taking comments through June 14.
The Southeast Judicial District includes the counties of Barnes, Dickey, Eddy, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Ransom, Richland, Sargent, Stutsman and Wells.
