Police arrest man after altercation at hospital

A 24-year-old man was arrested on felony charges late Thursday after police say he spat on an officer and refusing to leave MeritCare Medical Center in downtown Fargo.

According to police Sgt. Mark Lykken:

MeritCare security initially ordered Savoy Weldon Abraham, no known address, to leave the property at about 8:40 p.m. Police cited Abraham for criminal trespass and he left.

Around 9:20 p.m., Abraham again was seen on the 700 block of Fourth Street North. When MeritCare security attempted to apprehend Abraham, he ran off.

Police received another report at the same location at 10:24 p.m.

Authorities placed Abraham in a squad car, and he tried to kick out the windows. Police say Abraham spit in the face of one officer and attempted to kick the officers.

Abraham was arrested on suspicion of contact by bodily fluids, a Class C felony, and a misdemeanor charge of preventing arrest.

He was released from the Clay County Jail on April 29 after serving time for a high-speed chase in a stolen car.
