Ben Franklin principal earns state award

John Nelson, principal at Fargo’s Ben Franklin Middle School, has been named the North Dakota Middle Level Principal of the Year by the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals.

Nelson was instrumental in his school’s effort to establish school beliefs and vision that create a sense of community and shared commitment among the school’s teachers, students, parents and the community, according to a news release issued by the Fargo School District.

The Middle Level Principal of the Year program annually recognizes outstanding school leaders who have succeeded in providing quality learning opportunities for students.

As the state’s middle-level honoree, Nelson will be invited to be honored at a symposium this fall in Washington, D.C.
