Average cost of gas in ND tops $3 for first time in 18 months

The average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in North Dakota has topped $3 for the first time since October 2008, according to AAA North Dakota.

North Dakota is among a dozen states with the average price of $3 or more, with Hawaii the highest at $3.563.

The current statewide average is $3.001, according to AAA’s daily Fuel Gauge Report released today.

The last time average gas prices topped $3 was Oct. 15, 2008.

Nationally, the average currently stands at $2.919.

One year ago the North Dakota and national averages both stood at $2.08.

The current average in Minnesota is $2.892 and South Dakota is $2.945.
