College softball: Johnson’s two complete-game wins bolster Bison

North Dakota State pitcher Whitney Johnson struck out 23 batters in two complete-game wins as the Bison swept the University of Missouri-Kansas City 8-0 and 10-3 in Summit League softball on Sunday at Ellig Sports Complex.

With the two wins, the Bison (29-22; 13-7) clinched a berth in The Summit League tournament, which is slated for May 14-15 in Fargo.

Johnson had a no-hitter going in Game 1 until Kaelene Curry led off the sixth inning with a soft single to left. Johnson completed her eighth shutout of the season after just allowing the one hit.

NDSU’s Cristina Borek went 4-for-7 with five RBIs to lead the Bison offense.
