DNR: Wildfires on Minn. reservation are arsonCLOQUET, Minn. — Authorities are trying to find out who is setting a series of fires on a northeastern Minnesota Indian reservation.
Since March 23, authorities say three-dozen fires have been set along roads in and near the Fond du Lac Reservation.
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources wildfire investigator Mark Wurdeman says the fires are being started in a cluster in the same general area.
Wurdeman says it's happening two or three nights a week.
Authorities consider the situation especially serious because conditions have been extremely dry for the past month, meaning small fires could quickly grow out of control.
Both the DNR and tribal authorities are investigating.
