200 turn out as first NDSU president candidate gives open forum

FARGO - About 200 people gathered today at North Dakota State University to hear from Dean Bresciani, the first of four president candidates to visit campus.

Bresciani, adjunct professor and former vice president for student affairs at Texas A&M University, spoke to students, faculty, staff and community members during a one-hour open forum.

Bresciani said each time he’s visited NDSU he’s been more enthusiastic about the university.

He said he’s attracted to NDSU because of its focus on students and its mission as a land grant research university. However, Bresciani said NDSU should work to become more widely recognized.

“The truth is I think you can do more, and the truth is I’ve heard you say you can do more,” Bresciani said.

Each of the candidates will spend 2½ days in Fargo touring the city and campus and meeting with various groups.

This afternoon, Bresciani will meet with student government and tour the Research and Technology Park.
