North Dakota National Guard to help in Haiti recoveryBISMARCK – The North Dakota National Guard will be helping with earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti.
Gov. John Hoeven and Guard commander David Sprynczynatyk said 20 soldiers with the 191st Military Police Company are scheduled to deploy around May 15 for three weeks of security duty.
The North Dakota soldiers will be part of a group of 500 personnel from numerous states and territories.
The 191st is based in Fargo, Bismarck and Mayville. The Guard says the 20 soldiers all volunteered for the mission.
Haiti was devastated by an earthquake that struck the Caribbean nation in mid-January.
