Langseth introduces flood-relief funding billState Sen. Keith Langseth, DFL-Glyndon, introduced legislation Wednesday that would help Minnesota counties affected by flooding secure about $11 million in federal disaster aid.
The bill comes a day after President Barack Obama signed a federal disaster declaration for 18 counties and one tribal nation in Minnesota affected by flooding this year.
The declaration makes it possible for cities and counties to apply for funding to assist in repair and replacement of damaged infrastructure.
Federal funding covers 75 percent of total costs, leaving local governments to cover the rest.
Langseth’s bill would provide $3.7 million in state funding to secure the federal dollars.
Clay, Norman, Polk and Wilkin counties are covered in the declaration.
