Eastern N.D., synod rejects gay clergy resolutionJAMESTOWN - The Eastern North Dakota Synod Assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America just defeated a resolution that would have called for its denomination to reverse an August decision allowing non-celibate gays to serve in the clergy.
It failed by a margin of 190 to 213. The move came at the END Synod's annual assembly in Jamestown, which opened yesterday and closes this afternoon.
The resolution would have had no binding power, but would only have expressed the wishes of the synod to the national denomination.
