North Dakota jobless rate rises slightly to 4.9 percentBISMARCK – North Dakota’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March is 4.9 percent.
That’s up slightly from February’s 4.7 percent rate, but 0.4 percent less than the 5.3 percent rate posted in March 2009.
North Dakota continues to be considerably lower than the national rate of 10.2 percent March rate, said Michael Ziesch, research analyst for Job Service North Dakota.
“Historically, February and March rates have been very similar and this year’s uptick is normal,” Ziesch said.
In March, 17,934 North Dakotans were unemployed and 345,890 had jobs, according to Job Service North Dakota.
