North Dakota State guard 'upbeat' as she begins cancer treatmentsFARGO - With an army of support behind her, North Dakota State women’s basketball player Hannah Linz said Friday she’s ready for battle. And, she said, there’s no doubt she’ll win this one.
The freshman said she’s already feeling better after beginning chemotherapy treatments for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The stage 2 cancer was diagnosed last Friday.
“I know I’ll find some way to get through it,” she said. “I’ve got an upbeat attitude.”
Linda Linz, Hannah’s mother, said the tumor is about the size of a volleyball, but is compressed against her lungs, heart and aorta. It made breathing difficult at times.
She’ll have chemotherapy treatments every two weeks for six months followed by radiation treatments.
