ND Democratic US Senate candidate Potter plans courthouse tour

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tracy Potter is planning some old-style campaigning — a speech on the steps of each county courthouse.

North Dakota has 53 counties, and Potter says he'll start the tour at 11 a.m. on May 1 at the Kidder County courthouse in Steele. It was built in 1883, and Potter says it's the oldest one that is still used as a courthouse.

Potter says he'll give a campaign speech along with historical information about each courthouse.

He says the tour will give North Dakotans a chance to ask him questions about why he should be elected.

Potter and Republican Gov. John Hoeven are running for the Senate. They are competing to succeed incumbent Democrat Byron Dorgan. He is not seeking re-election.
