College baseball: 5 Bison pitchers combine for 2-hitter in home win

Five North Dakota State pitchers combined on a two-hitter in a 7-1 win over Dakota Wesleyan in the Bison’s home opener on Tuesday at Newman Outdoor Field.

Bison first baseman Zach Wentz went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. Wentz is hitting .460 this season.

Third baseman Jay Hartman went 3-for-4 for the Bison (12-14). All of NDSU’s runs came in the fifth inning.

NDSU travels to Shreveport, La., for a four-game set beginning with a 6 p.m. Friday game.
