Flood 2009: All eyes on Valley City

April 11 – All eyes shifted westward as Valley City, N.D., a city

of 6,800 people, prepared for the challenge of a lifetime.

The National Weather Service was predicting the Sheyenne River to rise to 22 feet by Tuesday – 2 feet higher than the record set in 1882.

New river charts had to be made because the prediction was off the charts.

Bridges were closed, and National Guard soldiers patrolled the town.
