Becker County releases name of stabbing victim

The Becker County Sheriff’s Department on Friday released the identity of a man injured Thursday in a stabbing near Ponsford, Minn.

Gerald Wayne Roberts, 48, of Ponsford, suffered serious stab wounds to his abdomen and chest during the incident, which occurred about 1:51 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Roberts underwent surgery at St. Mary’s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes.

A condition for Roberts was not available Friday.

Several hours after the incident, authorities located and arrested a suspect identified by the Sheriff’s Department as George Robert Taylor, 22.

Ponsford is about 25 miles northeast of Detroit Lakes.
