Woman awaits details on husband’s death

HEBRON, N.D. – A Hebron woman says she has been told that the death of her husband at an oil rig site in Dunn County was “simply a fluke accident.”

Kathryne Due said she is awaiting details but that she has been told that no one was to blame for 64-year-old Larry Due’s death.

Authorities have not released details on the Monday afternoon death, citing the ongoing investigation. Casper, Wyo.-based Black Hills Trucking Inc. confirmed Due was working for the company but declined comment.

John Young with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in Bismarck said OSHA investigators were on site Tuesday.

It is the second oil field fatality in the area in about a month. Christopher Whalen, 22, of Havre, Mont., died in early March after a 250-pound steel pipe fell on his head in an accident near Beach.
