Weekend Watch: Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’
Fargo-Moorhead Opera Artistic Director David Hamilton says there are two places every opera singer in the world wants to sing: the Met in New York City and La Scala in Milan, Italy. Soprano Manuela Kriscak sports the latter credit on her resume, and her next stop is Fargo, where she’ll play Violetta in Verdi’s “La Traviata.” A tragic story of passion, death and misunderstanding, Hamilton says it’s Verdi’s most-performed opera and that it’s “chock-full of great tunes.” The production hits the stage at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Sunday at North Dakota State University’s Festival Concert Hall. Tickets are $35 to $70, and $15 for children. Call (701) 239-4558 for more information.
