Akers running for seat on West Fargo School BoardWest Fargo resident Mark Akers is the lone challenger so far in the running for West Fargo School Board.
The 49-year-old recently filed to apply for the four-year term.
“I want to do what I can to help our students,” said Akers, the father of two West Fargo ninth-graders and two West Fargo High School graduates.
The West Fargo resident of more than 20 years works in the maintenance department for Fargo’s Walmart.
The board has four open spots for the June 8 election. Friday is the deadline to apply.
Veteran board members Karen Nitzkorski and Angela Korsmo have filed for re-election.
Board members Tom Gentzkow and Duane Hanson are not running for re-election, while Ben Koppelman, Kay Kiefer and Patti Stedman aren’t up for re-election.
