Cass County investigates theft of copper in GardnerGARDNER, N.D. – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the reported theft of 600 to 700 pounds of copper from a shop here.
The owner on Wednesday reported the burglary to his shop in the 500 block of Mairs Avenue, saying it happened within the past two weeks, Capt. Rick Majerus said.
Rolls of copper wire and scrap pieces of copper were reported stolen, he said.
Authorities have no suspects, and they don’t know exactly when the theft happened, Majerus said.
The price of scrap copper is on the rise, currently selling for $3 to $3.20 a pound, according to one local scrap metal buyer.
