Cass County urges safe driving in rural areasCass County Sheriff’s officials urge residents to be mindful when driving near areas hit by overland flooding, especially as temperatures drop overnight, creating slick conditions.
County officials worry if drivers aren’t careful they might slide on the road and their vehicle could potentially fall into a water-filled ditch.
“My biggest fear is that the temperatures are going to fall into the teens and there’s going to be some icy roads or frozen clay from where trucks are hauling, and somebody’s going to fall into a ditch,” Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson said. “That’s just real concerning because people would be lucky to survive that, if they do.”
