UPDATED: Suspect identified in fatal bar shooting in Wyndmere, NDWYNDMERE, N.D. – Murder charges are being sought against a suspect in custody following a fatal shooting at the Four Corners Bar in Wyndmere early today, the Richland County sheriff said.
Authorities responded to a call about a fight at the bar at 1:08 a.m.
The suspect, Steven Russell Rowland, 46, of Wyndmere, allegedly left the bar after the altercation, returned with a weapon and shot and killed the victim, according to a news release from Sheriff Larry Leshovsky.
Rowland left the scene and was apprehended by a deputy a short time later, the release stated. He is being held in the Richland County Jail.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation. The state Highway Patrol and Game and Fish Department also assisted the sheriff’s office.
The victim’s name was not released.
