College hockey: Gophers’ Schroeder heads to Canucks

University of Minnesota sophomore men’s hockey center Jordan Schroeder signed with the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, putting an end to his Gophers career three days after their season ended.

Schroeder was drafted with the No. 22 overall pick by the Canucks in the 2009 entry draft. They will probably assign him to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

He was picked to be the preseason WCHA Player of the Year by the media. He tied for the Gophers’ team lead in points this season with 28.
