North Dakota Republicans tap Thune for conventionSouth Dakota Sen. John Thune will be the keynote speaker for North Dakota’s state GOP convention in two weeks, state Republicans announced Friday.
“I cannot think of a more appropriate senator to have at our state convention,” North Dakota GOP chairman Gary Emineth said in a statement.
State Republicans meet March 19-21 in Grand Forks to endorse candidates for state and federal races.
Thune was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004 after successfully unseating 18-year Democratic incumbent and then-Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.
