Grand Forks crime rate drops to 10-year lowGRAND FORKS – Crime in Grand Forks is at a 10-year low. Authorities don’t really know why.
In the eight main categories of crime tracked by the FBI, ranging from murder to burglary to arson, Grand Forks crime in 2009 was down 13 percent from the previous year.
Lt. Jim Remer called the numbers “heartening.”
The stats show that violent crime – murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault – was up 1 percent in Grand Forks. But the rate of violent crime in the city is still only about half the national average.
